Production technology and application of silicone sealing strips

Silicone sealing strips are commonly used products in the sealing strip industry. They are used for liquid/gas sealing of various large chemicals and daily necessities. They can completely isolate the carrier from the outside world and effectively preserve the items. There are two production processes for silicone rubber sealing strips. Different product sizes require different processing techniques.

For sealing strips such as building doors and windows, large machinery, the size and design shape are very critical, so most of them use extrusion processes. However, some small electronic products and sealing strips are usually made by molding processes.

Extrusion processing is a relatively stable production process. Due to the action of the screw, the rubber material will be tightly squeezed during the process, so the fluidity of the rubber material is stable, the product structure is mutually bonded, the density is increased, and the product quality is improved. Will be better.

Silicone strip extrusion production process flow:

1, Rubber mixing: The rubber raw materials are mixed in a rubber mixer. Various auxiliary materials such as vulcanizers and masterbatches are added to the rubber according to the formula requirements. They are evenly mixed by continuous mixing and then pressed into rubber.

2. Extrusion: Install the die at the head of the extruder, put the refined rubber material into the automatic feeder, let the rubber material naturally enter the extruder barrel from the feeding device, and then rotate the screw to move the rubber material toward the die head and extrude the shape of the sealing strip.

3. Vulcanization: The extruded sealing strip enters the drying tunnel for high-temperature vulcanization and characterization. Some products will be placed in the oven for secondary heating and molding.

4. Subsequent processing: Cutting or bonding and other subsequent processing according to the length required by the customer. Then package and ship to the customer as needed.

During the production process, the staff will repeatedly measure at the extrusion port and drying tunnel to ensure that the size of the silicone sealing strip produced is correct.

Advantages of silicone sealing strips:

1. Silicone itself has strong inertia and excellent anti-aging and corrosion resistance.

2. The surface can be divided into smooth and granular, the temperature range is -70-300 degrees, the color can be customized, and the color is rich.

3. The sealing performance is very good, shockproof, waterproof, dustproof, and its weather resistance is also very good.

4. Silicone rubber sealing strips are environmentally friendly, safe, non-toxic and odorless, and have good insulation properties.

5. Silicone sealing strips have small compression deformation, strong rebound ability, good surface non-stickiness and good air permeability.

Application of silicone sealing strips:

Silicone sealing strips are now widely used in electronics, electrical engineering, lighting, chemical industry and other fields. It has many application characteristics and can be used in many fields.

1. Door and window industry: plastic steel doors and windows, aluminum alloy doors and windows, broken bridge insulation doors and windows, system doors and windows, building doors and windows, etc. Daily life doors and windows require sealing strips (for sealing, pressure bearing, shock absorption).

2. Transportation: doors and windows of high-speed trains and cars (engine hoods, trunk lids, various gaps between tool parts, decorative strips, door panels, door frames of car doors, with shock, waterproof and dustproof functions)

3. Application of instrumentation industry: various silicone rubber leads (used for capacitor light emitters, coils, transformers, mutual inductors, as leads). Diaphragms of sensitive components in various regulators, heating sheets of instruments, and anti-needle puncture rubber sheets (high tear-resistant silicone rubber). Drying boxes, electric furnaces, far-infrared heater door seals/inserts, boiler seals, refrigeration device seals (sponge door seals)

4, High-voltage caps in radio, motor and telecommunications industries; High-voltage caps for televisions and oscilloscopes. Silicone seals and silicone insulating sleeves for potentiometers. Thyristor shells, gas-contacting seals, insulating sleeves, switch protection covers, electronic computers, telephone surfaces, conductive rubber sheets, keyboard switches, varistors, etc.

5. Industrial equipment: silicone foam seals for coating machines (coating machines are large industrial machines with a temperature of 200~250° in the drying tunnel, so silicone seals are required. Household appliances: silicone seals for refrigerators (the most common household appliances, silicone seals are used to seal next to the refrigerator door to prevent the air in the refrigerator from mixing with the outside air), silicone seals for dishwashers (mainly used in washing machines.
